About UsWe're Latter-day Saints who want more joy in our journey and are committed to reaching for the light and spreading positive energy. Many LDS singles conversations and interactions focus on the negative, and quite frankly, we're tired of it. We're laboring to uplift our fellow brothers and sisters with positive energy and hope in a glorious future.
Although many of us are single, some are also married. We want to build bridges of understanding between singles and marrieds so we can come together and be truly united and better prepared as a people to receive the Lord when He comes again. We believe that promoting a Christ-centered culture is the best way not only to prepare for the Lord's Second Coming but also to meet more effectively the needs of LDS singles. We believe that we're better together than separate and that we need to walk together, helping each other along the same road to the same heavenly home. |
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why does Joy in the Journey Radio exist?
|
Joy in the Journey Radio exists to help LDS singles live their best life. It does this by pursuing three primary objectives:
1. Joy in the Journey Radio helps LDS singles to change the way they think, thereby promoting more effective approaches to life that help them to live their best life. 2. Joy in the Journey Radio helps LDS marrieds to change the way they think, thereby promoting a Christ-centered culture that can eliminate many of the challenges LDS singles have traditionally faced. 3. Joy in the Journey Radio promotes unity among LDS singles and marrieds, fostering a community that supports and benefits everyone. |
Is Joy in the Journey Radio really for all Latter-day Saints?
|
Yes! While LDS singles will of course gravitate towards discussions about LDS singles issues, Joy in the Journey Radio seeks to include LDS marrieds in the audience as well. Many marrieds simply don't understand what it is like to be older and single in the LDS Church, especially if they married young. We'll never come together and be one without at least trying to understand each other. Joy in the Journey Radio seeks to build bridges that can convey that understanding.

How did Joy in the Journey Radio get started?
|
Joy in the Journey Radio was started by the show's host on Wednesday 12 December 2012 --- 12/12/12. He had received another brush from yet another woman who wasn't giving him much of a chance in the dating arena. After enduring almost 20 years of such treatment, he decided to start a blog on his personal website. Over the next year, he wrote additional posts about LDS singles life during which he refined his approach to helping others sustain more positive energy in their lives.
On Wednesday 1 January 2014, he moved the blog to its own dedicated website, where he continued writing weekly posts that encouraged LDS singles to change their lives by changing themselves. In January 2016, he changed the name to Joy in the Journey Radio and began publishing audio versions of his blog posts, which became monologues for a sort of "radio show." In January 2018, he began live weekly broadcasts over the Internet, using his traditional blog posts as monologues to introduce the topic for conversation that week. Through each stage of evolution, Joy in the Journey Radio seeks to support LDS singles with positive energy and build bridges of understanding that increase unity among all Latter-day Saints. |
What plans does Joy in the Journey Radio have for the future?
|
Regular video clips as well as social media channels are planned for the near future. Other plans have not yet been developed. The evolution of the program is organic as everyone involved with the program focuses on the ultimate goal: support LDS singles with positive energy and build bridges of understanding that increase unity among all Latter-day Saints.

What exactly do you mean when you say "change the culture"?
|
Changing the culture means promoting a culture centered on Christ, one in which the mark of belonging is making and keeping as many sacred covenants as we each can. Changing the culture means increasing our awareness of one another and reaching out to support one another no matter our differences. Changing the culture means helping all faithful Latter-day Saints to feel loved and supported because single and married are situations and not identities.
But changing the culture also means changing the ways in which singles associate with each other to become more supportive of each other, irrespective of dating prospects or other personal advantage. You can learn more by reading past blog posts / radio show monologues that treat changing the culture. The blog post "Change the culture" (commenting on Church produced videos treating the way we interact with each other within the Church) is a good place to start. From there, select "Changing LDS singles culture" from the Categories list in the sidebar at right to read more. |
Does Joy in the Journey Radio cost anything?
|
It's free to listen to Joy in the Journey Radio, and it's always been that way.
|
Why doesn't Joy in the Journey Radio collect email addresses?
|
We don't like visiting websites only to be pestered for an email address so someone can send us a "newsletter" which too often turns out to be a sales pitch or an ad to buy something we usually don't want. We thought you wouldn't like that either, so we don't do that. Think of it as a Golden Rule sort of thing.
