Synopsis
Part 1
If we truly understand the restored gospel, we have every reason in the world to be happy — So many singles are just waiting to be happy — You don’t need to wait — Happiness comes not from having anything but from giving your all to the right things — The right things are more than the standards we use to identify active LDS — President Hinckley included more than just the standards in his life, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, for example — You have to decide what things beyond the standards are right for you — Too many of us do the exact opposite waiting for our greatness to be given to us — The happy life comes to those who make it happen — You need to own your life — Happiness is a choice, so here’s some free advice: Start being happy
Part 2
How do we actually choose to be happy? — Why is it you choose to do what you are doing? — Many live their life on autopilot, which won’t help you to be happy — Happiness is a conscious choice — We’re given a life plan in LDS culture that doesn’t work for all of us — Many in that situation think they can’t be happy until someone else chooses in their favor — Your power of choice can make you happy — Stop waiting to be happy and star giving your all to the right things for you — Stop living on autopilot and understand how your habits can keep you from your best life — Many of our habits come to us from our culture — Most LDS singles on autopilot get married for at least one of two reasons: sex and acceptance — Being in the world but not of the world means you’re still living in the world — Left unchecked, our habits can make it easy to feel like we don’t belong as singles — Understanding how you’re designed to operate out of habit frees you to make your own choices — We need a culture not centered on family but on Christ — When we understand what the pieces are and how they fit together, we have no need to be miserable — We can feel joy every day when we make the right choices
Part 3
Our host has talked about the true nature of happiness for years — How can you know what things are right for you? — The right things are more than just the standards that indicate an active LDS — You have other right things, such as how you approach your discipleship — How much of ourselves we give plays a big part in our happiness — Self-improvement is another right thing as is adopting a personal ministry — A personal ministry can also make you more attractive — Most singles aren’t attracted to desperate people but rather to people making something of themselves — The Lord loves you and will open the way for you to live your best life — Own your life; don’t wait for happiness to find you — Our host renews the call for help with the program — You can bring positive energy and light to other singles by making the right choice to volunteer your efforts
