Synopsis
Part 1
Each prophet seems to have a legacy — We have favorites because it’s human nature — President Hinckley is the man because he was versatile and never stopped — President Kimball may have influenced President Hinckley — President Hinckley was present when Elder McConkie prophesied that temples would one day dot the earth — The time wasn’t right for that until President Hinckley wore the mantle — Now it seems there’s a new temple announcement with each General Conference — Memories of temple dedications — The Conference Center is impressive, but alone not worth a trip to Salt Lake — We don’t do pilgrimages, although they could bring spiritual experiences — Still, the Conference Center is impressive — In memory of President Monson, our host can’t shut up about President Hinckley
Part 2
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop? — Very brief is relative — Anything longer than 5 seconds in the age of social media is considered an eternity — Spending only one hour to describe the life of President Monson is brief when compared to the time that could be spent describing his life — We all have stories of President Monson — Bonding with President Monson through MoTab — Bonding with President Monson (and Uchtdorf!) at a James Taylor concert — Concerts are just mega-parties nowadays, but some might actually want to hear the music — President Monson was all about loving service — Memories from the mission of a missionary who followed that lead — President Monson always gave loving service and always saw growth everywhere he served
Part 3
Another prophet now wears the mantle — President Russell M Nelson is that man — His new counselors are each well suited for their roles — How appropriate to speak first to Church members from the Salt Lake Temple annex — The order of prophetic succession is wonderful — If only secular government operated the same way as the Twelve — You gotta love the press conference — Of course questions are limited when time and money are involved — If Church leaders wanted to avoid controversial issues, they wouldn’t have allowed any questions — Diversity is great but not when applied as a worldly value to the Church — Diversity is often paired with feminism, which focuses on power, position, and prestige — So what that they’re all white American males? The Lord looks on the heart, not the outside — The Lord follows His own values, which testifies that this is His church — President Nelson constantly acknowledged the Lord’s place at the head of the Church — Everyone is where they need to be, even Elder Uchtdorf — The system of callings and releases in the Church is wonderful
